They Looked Back, But Saw The Future is a sequel for We Were Promised to be Taken Care Of. Series takes place in a fairy tale world, where adults do not exist. In these six paintings two girls have taken roles of explorers. The girls are mapping and investigating the world through observation and drawing. These paintings are homage to childhood, when even a small outing can turn out to be an full scale adventure and boundaries of reality are constantly expanded. I dedicate these paintings to my niece, who posed for Cartographer and was at the time crossing fragile boundary of childhood into puberty and for my daughter, posing for Draughtsman and who continues to inspire me with her open mind. Paintings are shown in Mänttä Art Festival during summer 2018.
